The skin elasticity loss results in a slackening of the tissues of the inner arm that can be corrected in two ways :
- With a scar concealed in the axillary fold (the most subtle solution, which can only be applied to minor tissue slackening - With an incision running along the inside of the arm, extending from the axillary area to the elbow (a very effective technique but with significant scarring).
Procedure
Performed under general anaesthetic, this surgery is an outpatient procedure (the patient is discharged the same day) with a straightforward recovery.
Physical exercise is not recommended for one and a half months to prevent any potential stretching of the scar.
Special creams and nightly silicone compression garments help to improve the appearance of the scars, which remain red for the first two months and fade gradually over the following two years.
